Myles was recently called to film his first television part on the successful new Fox Television program “Rescue Me” starring Denis Leary. After getting Myles press package out to a number of agents in Manhattan the Stanley Kaplan Agency saw attributes in Myles that they felt they could work with. The agency submitted his picture to a few casting directors and the result was his first TV part. The filming took place on the eastside of Manhattan, it was an absolutely fantastic experience.

Besides now having his official child performer’s working permit and his first union gig it was a great experience. He learned that the production process can be slow & there is sometimes a lot of waiting involved. It was fortunate that only one block away from our waiting area they were shooting the stunts for that episode. He got to see how the crew mounts a camera on a car to get those moving shots. He also watched stuntmen bouncing off of screeching cars as they shot the stunts over a number of times. The wait, even though it was 3 or 4 hours didn’t seem that long with all that was going on.

When we were called for the scene Myles and about 10 to 12 other actors filed into a beautiful church. It was very well lit with a lot of stained glass windows. Denis Leary and his TV family were already sitting in a pew towards the front of the church. The production assistants placed the background actors strategically through-out the pews. Myles happened to end up towards the back, than after everyone was placed one of the production people asked Myles to move up to the row right in front of Denis Leary and his TV family. The scene was shot as everyone sang while they were looking at the bibles they were holding.

After that Myles shot another scene singing with everyone in the church but this time Denis Leary and the family were not there. After that we were sent back to the holding area for the background players and after about a half hour Myles was called back specifically to stand in for the young boy who plays Denis Leary’s son (they have the same color hair) so they shot Myles from behind looking up at the priest and the alter boys.

That was it.... all and all it was a great time. It was a full 8 hour day and he loved every second of it. On the way home we asked Myles if he liked what he did that day, he said can we go back tomorrow. Myles says he is looking forward to more parts and trying different roles. The episode aired in August it was titled “Rebirth and Brains”.
