April 22nd 2005 the original composition submitted by Myles to this year’s 2004/2005 National PTA Reflections Program, received the "National Award of Excellence" there were over 500,000 entries Nation wide. On April 26th the Arlington District school board invited Myles to perform at an annual board meeting. After Myles played he was presented with a large wood framed plaque for the achievement of National Award of Excellence champion. Myles played guitar with his dad on drums at the board meeting. The guitar Myles is playing was purchased with his National award money.

In December the audio and essay below were submitted to this year’s 2004/2005 National PTA Reflections Program, for entry into the student talent recognition contest. Myles calls this composition the Levon Shuffle

Myles performs on the Drums, Piano, Bass Guitar & Organ, he was recorded playing all the parts on a multi track recorder, the piece was submitted as an audio tape. "The Levon Shuffle" is a tribute to the friendship Myles has come to know with Levon Helm and the respect Myles has for all of Levon's music, talents and accomplishments. 

The entrant must have composed and performed the piece submitted for consideration. The essay sheet that accompanies the piece must also be written by the child who is entering the original composition.
